Nuneaton Golf Club has raised an impressive £2,400 for Doorway, giving a vital boost to its work supporting young people facing homelessness across Warwickshire.

The fundraising weekend was held in support of the Vice Captains’ chosen charity Doorway selected by Dean Burt, Men’s Vice Captain. During a recent visit to Doorway’s base in Nuneaton, Dean shared his motivation:

“I wanted to choose a charity that was based in Nuneaton where our support would make a real difference to the work they do.”

Doorway is an independent charity that provides essential services to young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, offering support, guidance, and a safe space to rebuild their lives.

A Weekend of Fun, Fundraising, and Community Spirit

The weekend kicked off with a vibrant evening event, where the venue was beautifully decorated in Doorway’s signature colours. Custom-made centrepieces added a personal touch, and guests enjoyed live music from the talented Eve Krasniqi. The night was filled with fundraising games and activities, setting the tone for a successful weekend.

Despite Sunday’s overcast skies, over 200 golfers turned out in high spirits to play a round in support of the cause. As players navigated the scenic course, guests joined in the fun with a charity raffle featuring an array of generous prizes donated by local businesses and individuals. Highlights included:

  • Dinner for four at the Nuneaton Golf Club Clubhouse
  • A bottle of champagne
  • Golf experiences at nearby courses

A Community Coming Together

Thanks to the generosity of club members, guests, and local sponsors, the event exceeded expectations, raising a total of £2,400 for Doorway. The funds will help the charity continue its vital work with vulnerable young people in the area.
